What we offer:

Image: artwork by French-Egyptian artist, Ghada Amir. Tactile Drawing Wednesdays September 11 - Nov 13 7:00pm - 8:45pm 10 Classes This class will be inspired by artists who gravitate towards working with mixed media and tactile materials that question what drawing can be: beyond making marks with pencil on paper. Blending unusual combinations of mediums with recognizable subject matter, we will create fun and unexpected outcomes that explore the boundaries of drawing with tactile space. For example: How would you draw a tropical landscape with strips of multicolored fabric and glue? How would you make a line drawing portrait with needle and colorful thread on canvas? How would you use a russet potato to make an ink drawing of a pile of russet potatoes from observation? Have you ever made a 3D relief drawing with wood, nails, and plaster? Probably not! This class will promote a design-thinking / problem-solving workshop vibe with a fun and experimental focus every week. Some projects may take two classes to complete due to dry-time with certain mediums. Adult students will be encouraged to play and innovate ways of combining several media and styles of making into unique artworks in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. No previous skills are necessary! Just bring an open mind, and a willingness to play :) Hand tools and the occasional power tool will be used in this class. *This class will run with a minimum of 5 registrations.
