Cut It Out! Collage Saturdays, September 14 - Dec 14 (ages 6-10) 10am-11am 13 classes Collage is also sort of like creating a puzzle of certain imagery that tell a story, create a mood, or make a clever joke. This class will look at several artists who have used collage as a quick and colorful medium of poetic communication and storytelling throughout history. We'll work with printed and painted media and papers, compositions of pattern and repetition, storytelling with shapes, faces, cut out words, and material textures. Each class will start with a brief warm-up in our sketchbooks, and then we'll begin a larger project that will last several weeks. Students will create a cardboard instrument sculpture inspired by Picasso's guitars, a printed city block inspired by Romare Bearden, a self-portrait photocollage, and a mythical creature.
