What we offer:

This class will explore a variety of surprising and variously messy process-centric methods of making art! Truly embracing "process over product," young artists will immerse themselves each week in unanticipated outcomes, experiments in mixed media, and unusual combinations of materials. We will take inspiration from some acclaimed "Process Artists" of the 1960's who pushed the boundaries of what art can be, by bringing physical actions into art media: pouring, scraping, squeegee-ing, bubbling, flocking, staining, crumpling, destroying, etc. and finding unusual textural effects with mediums that resist each other like combining oil, wax, and water based pigments, using cellophane plastics to filter light spectrums, and making different kind of paints to activate a variety of surfaces. This class will take on a new project every week with a fun and quasi-laboratory like vibe. (8 weeks)
