AM Sunday, Dec 14 / 1pm-3pm $50 / Nutcracker All ages Kids under 6 must be joined by a parent or guardian Come join our Studio to assemble, build, paint, and style your own "Nutty Nutcracker" functional 14" wooden sculpture in this fun and wacky workshop, where we will reinvent a conventional nutcracker soldier into a silly and fabulous heirloom piece, sure to bring you good luck well into the new year! We've created a hand-made pine and poplar wooden multi-piece nutcracker kit that each participant will be able to assemble and glue together step by step, and then style in their own way. And yes, of course! ...each "Nutty Nutcracker" is functional! A bit of history: Nutcracker figures are a popular seasonal decoration, originating in the mountainous Erzgebirge region of Germany in the 1600's, associated with good luck and used to ward off evil spirits. Historically, they were functional tools for cracking nuts, but also seen as a bit of social satire (an authority figure which cracks nuts!). Modern versions are primarily for decoration, although many still have a movable jaw that can crack nuts. We're so excited to bring this unique and special workshop to you.
