Are you an aspiring comic artist ? Dungeons & Dragons Master? Toy Designer? Love drawing weird monsters or cuddly kitties? In this camp we will explore a wild world of Character Design: how to draw figures with a few tips and tricks that will get you deeper into understanding and crafting your characters with purpose, movement, and detail. This camp will take a fun approach to drawing with a variety of materials and challenge students to apply a bit of technical drawing skill to their ideas. Throughout the week we will look at characters in a storytelling setting, look at a bit of art history, and a few references to be inspired with, and also sculpt and paint a 3D model based on one of our designs with Super Sculpey polymer clay. Super Sculpey is an easy to work with polymer clay that is commonly used by toy designers and the like to bring their ideas to life from 2D ideations. It is hand-sculpted, baked in an oven, and then painted with acrylic paint. (Just a note: this camp will not specifically focus on any one style of character design re: anime, etc.)
