What we offer:

Art and Video FULL DAY / 9AM- 3PM / JULY 13 - 17 / M-F / AGE 10-14YRS SMALL GROUP CAMP (CAPPED AT 8 PARTICIPANTS) This camp is called "Art and Video" because historically - since the 1960's - when video (VTR technology) became widely available for artists to use as a more affordable medium, there was an explosion of visual and time-based visionary innovation, its influence continues today seen in basically all visual culture and media that we're familiar with on a daily basis. This camp will focus on highly collaborative multimedia filmmaking projects where up to eight participants will work together to create a collection of short videos. Working together in small groups and embracing our differences and individual ideas will be highly encouraged. We will discuss the components of storytelling, storyboarding, character development, scriptwriting, and costume design. We will also experiment with using AI tools to generate ideas using groupthink discussion, and workshop our own ideations. Our goal is to not rely on AI tools to make our work, but to use them as another visual thinking tool to enhance our process. We will also explore non-traditional and experimental methods as well as working with software apps to compile and edit video as a group to realize our vision. The Camper group will determine how they'd like to use the video medium within specific prompts or to achieve different results, which we will agree upon together. We may split camper groups up based on interest (some campers may want to work on stop motion or animation, while others may want to shoot live video) combining live footage, stop motion animation, character role playing, etc. for the final artwork. We will use in-house 8K digital video cameras , green screen, lighting, ipads, bluetooth mics, and laptops with editing software to create our visions. Basic tutorials will be provided. If your camper is already versed in the basics with software apps like iMovie, FlipAClip, StopMotion, Procreate, all the better! We will encourage campers to bring their tablet if they have one as it may come in handy. Please note: This camp is an all day camp (9am - 3pm). Campers will need to bring their lunches with them. We will take two daily recess/lunch breaks outside, and also watch age appropriate short film and video from contemporary artists who are influential in the medium. A screening will take place on the last day of Camp, Friday July 17, at 2pm for families.
