Oct / Nov Clay Pack : Slab Built Vases Slab Construction / Surface design / Carving / Glazing 6 Sessions (Oct 14, 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, 18 ) Wednesday 6:30pm-8:30pm $300 This 6-week Class Pack will focus on designing, constructing, and glazing a series of unique hand-built vases (create up to six separate vases per each student). Students will start by designing their own templates (profile/silhouette), then use soft slabs to build up volume around the edge of the base shape. We will take you step by step through this process, with our expert guidance in building and shaping clay form to your specs. The possibilities for vase-form and scale are truly endless, ranging from a traditional amphora shape or getting more intricate and unique with your imagination! The flat surfaces will be fun to glaze, almost like a canvas: each facet or plane can be treated with physical surface texture, glossy or matte glaze finishes, with many options to choose and combine.
