What we offer:
Art vs. Craft Saturdays / Main Studio (Sept 12 - Nov 21) Ages 8-13 10-11:15am 11 classes $375 (materials fee included) What is the difference between Art and Craft? In this fun, active, and hands-on class, we’re becoming art archaeologists and makers all at once! We’ll look at real-life, historical objects from right here in our Appalachian region—things made long ago for survival, utility, and storytelling. Then, we're going to create useful objects and beautiful pieces that tell our own personal stories. You'll design future family heirlooms using a variety of materials including a hand-stitched broom, earthenware ceramic platters, handmade paper, and a memory jug. Projects: - Papermaking Workshop with paper pulp - Broomcorn whisk with unique ceramic handle (inspired by https://the-brush-co.com based in Philadelphia, PA.) - Ceramic Heirloom Storytelling Platter - Wood Woven Frame with surface design linocut stamps - Memory Jar with unique (student sourced) storytelling objects and mortar Taught by Taylor Mezo and Branden Koch
