What we offer:

This fun and exploratory course will approach using a variety of mixed media to build painterly composition and imagery. Focusing on the fundamentals of observational drawing, painting, and collage, we will combine several process-oriented techniques to construct mixed media works on paper, wood, and canvas using acrylic paint and mediums, pastel, inks, sand, natural materials, and found objects, just to name a few. Taking cue from art historical references, we will look at how several materials can be used to build a picture and communicate ideas beyond traditional means and in unexpected ways. In each class we will make one small exploratory work with a different approach. This class will meet Monday evenings: 7pm-8:30pm. July 14 - Aug 18. (6 classes total / $180 for registration). Class is capped at 8 participants.
