What we offer:

This fun 8-session mini-course for adults will introduce several artists throughout art history and explore a variety of mediums and aesthetics related to each of their work. In each class, we'll take a look at a few examples of an artist's work, and discuss a bit of the art history and context of the artist's life in their approach to making art. Students will explore a variety of fun and engaging projects that approach making art through the lens of each artist, while learning about combinations of different media in the process. This class will run 75 minutes per session, and incorporate visual images of each artist on our projection screen or through other media, with a brief 10 min lecture/discussion lead by the instructor. Then, an introduction to the project and a making session for about 60 min. Small 2D work will be made in a variety of media combinations: a different approach every week, including: charcoal, pencil, collage, ink, a variety of water based paint, print making, observational drawing, experimental drawing, drawing from the imagination, etc. This is a great opportunity for adults to try out making art with a variety of different media, while learning about technique and a bit of art historical content in the process. All materials included!
