What we offer:

Drawing Fundamentals for Adults. Wednesdays 7pm -8:30pm / January 10 - March 13 (10 classes) All materials included. This class is designed for adult students looking to practice and develop skill sets based in the medium of drawing, exploring and understanding the fundamentals, and developing your personal voice with a material sense. Whether you are interested in starting a daily drawing practice, developing a portfolio, or just trying your hand at something new, this course will introduce and review several key concepts to help you grow in confidence in a casual, fun, and informative atmosphere. Each class will incorporate drawing demonstrations by the instructor showing various techniques and approaches such as: training hand/eye coordination, capturing the force and movement of a line in a gesture, rendering tonal variations with various media, and using different techniques to achieve desired results. We will explore the usefulness of various paces of drawing: fast 'warm-up' sketches/gestures and slower sustained close-work from observation. We will also explore a variety of techniques that will help you accomplish the illusory effects of rendering light, shadow, shape, contour, and form, in different dry media. All of our work will be made from observation, either still life or references. The instructor will provide one-on-one guidance and we will discuss your work as a group and embrace your process.
